The Etsy Design Awards
For the first time ever, the 2019 Etsy Design Awards will recognize the work of extraordinary sellers from around the world and across multiple areas of expertise. The submissions to #theEtsies will be judged on 1. quality and overall craftsmanship of the item, 2. creativity and innovation - it's it unique? 3. Utility and functionality, 4. 'Wow' factor, 5. Personal story, and 6. Top-notch branding - excellent customer service, shop in good standing, high quality photography, compelling descriptions.
My Submission
I submitted the above Ariel Mermaid inspired wearable art flip flops. These were a design created from the concept of The Little Mermaid. I love Ariel's stash of miscellaneous treasures and designed this shoe with that in mind - a Mermaid cache of treasures. I found these gorgeous large Tibetan silver mermaids and the gorgeous simulated seaglass trim and it took off from there. I added gems, shells and other related rhinestone and metal hardware like starfish, anchors and goldfish. I think these shows are a real contender! Judging will take place in August 2019.
